On 23 September, we were delighted to be presented with a Silver award from Norwich for Jobs for our work supporting young people. KindaKafe offers supportive work placements for young people facing barriers to gaining employment. In 2018, over 30 young people and young adults participated in work placements where they gained confidence and work skills by volunteering in the cafe and supporting events. We’re currently developing plans to launch an advanced training programme providing targeted, one to one support to young adults to help them develop employability skills and play an active part in their community.
We’re currently supporting a young adult, who attends a Monday Support Club run by Norwich for Jobs, to undertake work experience at KindaKafe which has helped him with his confidence and to gain skills in hospitality. Tom Gaskin, Director of Pop Up Enterprises CIC which manages KindaKafe said:
‘Callum is gradually growing in confidence and gaining new experiences in customer service, preparation of vegetarian and vegan food, cleaning and helping us to ensure KindaKafe provides a friendly, welcoming environment for all’.
